Custom Photo Montage/Collage

A custom tribute montage is a technique widely used by graphic designers and consists of cutting and joining multiple photographs in order to create a unique image, using graphic applications such as Photoshop. The idea here is to create the illusion that all of the photo elements are parts of the same photo.

With a custom photo montage, we strive to produce the photo montage your family will cherish for generations. Let us create a montage for celebrations of life such as milestone birthdays, anniversaries, family histories, holidays and weddings. A memorial photo montage is frequently used as an addition to loved one’s memorial services.

A large part of the photo montage service is a personal consultation with the family members handling the photo collage project. It helps to give perspective and deciding which photos should be included can be a daunting task but together we create a commemorative photo montage to be cherished for years to come.

Photos, drawings, letters, newspaper clippings etc. are all welcomed to the mix. Don’t forget objects such as dog tags, medals, tickets, birth/wedding certificates and other trinkets. These items can either be scanned or photographed and returned to you along with your included photos.

A digital photo montage becomes a family heirloom which can be passed down through generations to come. All family members can have a copy of the montage printed in a variety of sizes. Additionally, all of your priceless photos become digitally archived on disk, protecting your memories forever. All original photos are returned to you in original condition.

Our experienced professional designer will implement the process to produce your photo montage. From placement, design, and artistic implementation to professional photo correction and hi-definition printing. Every element of your photo montage will express the importance of the subjects and occasion.

Prior to printing the final draft is emailed to the client for approval, changes can be made at this time.

Our printing process produces a hi-definition, 3-dimensional effect to give your photo montage depth and intensity. Not to be confused with photos placed on a board nor a digital photo collage printed on a poster with ordinary, uncreative placement of your treasured photos.

The montage can be printed on archival photographic paper, canvas or fine art cotton rag.
If framing is required, we can organise this through our specialist framer or you can choose to take the final print to your own framer.

Preparation

Search for 10 to 20 photos that represent what you want to portray (Some of the images may not be used due to design constraints).
A background photo will also be required, usually in a landscape format preferably without people as most of this image is covered by the main photos. (Ideas: favourite holiday places, churches, sporting scenes or hobbies etc.)
Old damaged photos can be restored prior to placing them into the montage.

Call us to make an appointment; we are usually free to consult at any time. If you are unable to visit us, we can possibly visit you at home or we can organise it all over the phone.

Our montages can take up to 2 weeks to complete but for memorial services we pull out all the stops to get it done within a couple of days.

DVD Slideshow

A collection of photos turned into a DVD playable movie where each image appears for at least 5 seconds before being replaced by the following image. Music can also be added, you supply the music.
The number of images in a slideshow affects the length of the video – 40 to 50 will take about 5 minutes to play back. Digital photos can be supplied to us as jpeg or tiff files on USB flash drives, CD, DVD, or any popular memory card. Non digital photos can also be scanned and added (for details on scanning see below)

PREPARATION OF NON-DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS

We can scan traditional photographs to convert them to digital and return the originals to you. We can also scan anything on paper up to A4 such as poems, post cards, letters, awards, etc. Due to time constraints your photos will require some prior preparation.

  1. Remove all photos from albums and frames.
  2. Make sure there are no staples, paper clips, tape, paper or adhesive attached to photos. If any of these are attached the photos will be scanned as non-standard photos (note 4)
  3. Photos size up to 8×12”. Larger photos/documents will be treated as non-standard (note 4)
  4. Non-standard photos: fragile or damaged photos, mounted in albums or thick photos and larger than 8×12”. These will take longer to scan as we need to do it manually and they will incur a surcharge.
  5. If you want photos placed in the book in chronological order then the originals must be clearly numbered—write lightly in a soft lead pencil or CD pen on the back of each photograph

QUICK TURNAROUND

We have a fast turnaround for memorial photo products as we understand you may need these a day or two so we make it our business to ensure you receive them in time for your service.

ADDITIONAL COPIES

Our tribute products can be easily reproduced so other family members can have their own memorial keepsake.

WILL THE ORIGINALS BE RETURNED?

Yes. The photos will be returned when the book is presented. If photos are borrowed from other family members you may want to write the name of the owner lightly in pencil on the backs of the photos.
